DTU Nanotech conducts cross-disciplinary research where micro- and nanotechnology is applied to a wide range of scientific disciplines as well as applications. The Nanoprobes group is a large and highly multi-cultural group, with different research branches focusing on biosensing, drug delivery and environmental monitoring. Responsibilities and tasks The Nanoprobes group at DTU Nanotech wishes to employ a postdoctoral researcher for 3 years to work in a highly interdisciplinary project focusing on fabricating micro-containers for oral drug delivery – with special focus on large volume manufacturing in FDA approved polymers. The main tasks will be to study and develop manufacturing technologies that are scalable and at the same time facilitate easy loading of drugs into the containers. The work will be carried out in close collaboration with different research groups and, within the framework of the recently granted Center of Excellence - IDUN. The successful candidate will play a leading role in the polymer microfabrication activities in the Nanoprobes group, interacting with several members working in different disciplines, such as biochemistry, biology, microfluidics, pharmacology and polymer science. The job involves co-supervision of Ph.D. and master students. Qualifications The ideal candidate holds a PhD in micro and nanofabrication and has a general overview of how to realize and characterize microfabricated oral drug delivery systems. A strong background in polymer processing, lab-chip technologies, advanced nanomaterial bioengineering and analytical instrumentation is an advantage. Experience in designing and testing of microfabricated systems, experience in hot embossing and cleanroom fabrication are also considered valuable assets. Furthermore, a strong interest in large-scale manufacturing such as roll to roll and injection molding is required. We are looking for an independent researcher who works accurately and feels comfortable in a collaborative environment, and who is willing and qualified to take on a larger coordination role within fabrication of micro-containers.
