A unique research opportunity is available in the research group of Prof. Ulrik L. Andersen at the Department of Physics, Technical University of Denmark (DTU). We are offering a 4- year research position taking part in the research and development of new quantum communication systems with a prime focus on Continuous Variable Quantum Communication and Cryptography. The project will be hosted by the section for Quantum Physics and Information Technology (QPIT) at DTU Physics and is part of newly established national center on Quantum Technology - Quantum Innovation Center (Qubiz). The QPIT research group comprises, students, postdocs, associates and engineers, and its mission is to exploit quantum phenomena such as entanglement and quantum superposition to enable secure communication, quantum networking and extreme sensing. The research profile spans all the way from pure fundamental research to applied research where in particular quantum communication and quantum sensing technologies are brought from the lab into the real world. QuBiz, Quantum Innovation Center, is a joint Danish national center including DTU, Copenhagen University and Aarhus University with the mission to harness the very strong Danish research positions within quantum technology for creating new quantum technology businesses. Responsibilities and tasks The successful candidate will play a key role in maturing quantum technology – in particular quantum communication technology – in tight collaboration with university researchers and industry partners. The goal of the project is to establish a secure quantum communication network in the city of Copenhagen based on continuous variable quantum key distribution. It is an interdisciplinary and innovative project that involves experts within cryptography, classical post processing, hardware development, fabrication and security analysis. Qualifications Candidates should have a PhD degree or equivalent. You should preferably have experience in: - Experimental Quantum Optics - Experimental quantum key distribution - Electronics and control systems - Experimental optical communication As this position will involve the development of quantum technology with the overarching aim of commercialization, the candidate should have an entrepreneurial and open-minded attitude, and be willing to collaborate with industry and end-users.
