The Quantum Nanophotonics team at DTU Fotonik, Department of Photonics Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark is seeking a candidate for a Postdoc position in the field of Quantum Information Science & Technology. The research aims at exploring quantum information at the nanoscale and developing a photonic quantum information network. Quantum information networks are central for quantum computation and quantum cryptography systems, and lie at the basis of a forthcoming Quantum Internet. DTU Fotonik has 220 employees with competences in optics and is one of the largest centers in the world based solely on research in photonics. Research is performed within optical sensors, lasers, LEDs, photovoltaics, ultra-high speed optical transmission systems , bio-photonics, nano-optics and quantum photonics. Responsibilities and tasks The research is mainly experimental and focused on: •Exploring a robust and flexible material platform for advanced quantum devices for quantum networks, based on novel crystal-phase quantum dots in nanowires. •Coupling semiconductor devices to atomic systems, where the advantages of both constituents will be combined: for instance, the scalability and functionality of semiconductor devices and the uniformity of atomic systems. •Developing a universal semiconductor-based quantum network node that can send, receive and store photonic quantum information. A quantum node will be based on crystal-phase quantum devices and will be coupled to an atomic system to ensure the frequency stability of the generated photons. •Demonstration of quantum information transfer and entanglement of two (and more) quantum nodes. Our team works in a new state-of-the-art nanophotonics lab in tight collaboration with a team of quantum nanophotonics theorists and a team of nanofabrication experts. We have an effective in-house collaboration that covers all aspects of our research: theory and modelling, sample growth and fabrication, experiments and demonstrations. We have created a dynamic research environment of young and senior scientists aimed at excellent science. The candidate is expected to effectively conduct an independent and collaborative research aimed at excellent science. Qualifications Candidates should have •A PhD degree or equivalent. •Relevant research experience, including experimental. •Interest in collaborating with international partners. •Interest in assisting in co-supervising B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. students relevant for the project.
