A postdoctoral position is available in a project on “Surface Binding Sites in Carbohydrate Active Enzymes” at Department of Systems Biology at the Technical University of Denmark within a project supported by the Research Council for Independent Research | Natural Sciences. The position is available for 7 months and will terminate on 30 November 2015. Responsibilities and tasks Carbohydrate binding sites situated on the surface outside of the active site in carbohydrate active enzymes are highly elusive and readily escape detection. The project concerns database mining and in silico identification of such sites as well as functional characterization of roles of surface binding sites in carbohydrate protein interactions by using experimental biophysics techniques and mutational analysis. Qualifications Candidates should have a PhD degree or equivalent. Furthermore the successful candidates should have •A solid background in homology modeling, molecular simulation, protein-ligand docking, structure analysis, carbohydrate active enzymes and binding site engineering. •Experience in recombinant protein production and characterization •Experience in CAZymes •Documented scientific excellence including publication of high quality research It would be advantageous, but not essential for the candidate to have knowledge or experience with the following: •Oligosaccharide purification and characterization •Enzyme kinetics •Protein crystallography We offer We offer an interesting and challenging job in an international environment focusing on education, research, public-sector consultancy and innovation, which contribute to enhancing the economy and improving social welfare.
