A 2 year postdoc position is available in the Microbial Biotechnology & Biorefining group. The position involves research on the fermentative aspect of producing the amino acid lysine from sustainable plant-based feedstocks. Microbial Biotechnology & Biorefining is a highly international group of 25 people with a strong commitment to research and innovation in the field of microbial bioconversion processes. Building on our competences within systems and synthetic biology, we aim at developing new robust microbial workhorses to meet the future challenges involved in conversion of sustainable feed-stocks. Responsibilities and tasks The position is funded by a grant from The Danish Council for Strategic Research as well as several industrial collaborators (the Biovalue SPIR platform). The post doc will be involved in developing and characterizing novel cell factories for producing the amino acid lysine from plant-derived feed-stocks, using state-of-the-art genetic tools, small-scale as well as pilot size fermenters and the required analytical tools. There will also be limited teaching responsibilities associated with the position. Qualifications Candidates should have a PhD degree or equivalent. A strong background in Molecular Biology and Microbiology and experimental experience in working with bacteria on a molecular level is required. Candidates who have previously worked with Corynebacterium glutamicum on a genetic level and with experience in using small scale controlled fermenters will be favored. Fluency in English and ability to work in a team is a requirement. A strong publication record is an advantage.
