Carlsberg A/S has one opening for postdoctoral fellow position to work with brewing yeast in the Yeast and Fermentation Group at the Carlsberg Research Laboratory (CRL). As postdoctoral fellow you will: - Be part of a team developing novel yeast for Core, Craft and Specialty beers. - Develop and conduct screening and breeding programs using robots and liquid handlers. - Run fermentation and characterize novel strains in controlled fermentation and pilot scale breweries. - Scale up microbial fermentations to laboratory and/or pilot scale experiments. - Analyze fermentation performance of these strains (chromatography, mass spectrometry, flow cytometry, microscopy). - Prepare project presentations and applications for additional external funding to further enlarge the research group in open collaboration with universities. The candidate must be fluent in English. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and international research environment and contribute to projects combining basic and applied aspects of microbiological research. You will be part of a world leading global company that provides an experienced international team and excellent research facilities. Our research group applies a range of technologies and advanced approaches in brewing yeast genomics and breeding. Personal Qualifications: • A PhD in food science, microbiology, biotechnology, biochemistry or related with a track-record of productivity as documented e.g. by publications in peer-reviewed journals or by patenting. • Knowledge and experience in yeast screening, breeding and evolution. • Experience with yeast physiology regarding fermentation performance and/or volatile compounds formation is a plus. • Hands on experience with automation and handling robots are of advantage. • IT/presentational skills, good communication and efficient organizational skills. • Ability to lead by example and good oral and written communication skills, engaged and highly motivated and with the ability to contribute to the creation of a positive social atmosphere at your work place. • Confident to work in a team but also individually and independently and take the full ownership of your tasks.
