The Hevesy Laboratory is a radiochemical and radiopharmaceutical facility at the Risø Campus of the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) within the Center for Nuclear Technologies. The laboratory has a 16.5 MeV cyclotron equipped with a beam line for in-house production of isotopes, matched with state-of-the-art hotcells, clean-rooms, and associated equipment for radioactive and stable isotope chemistry. At present, we are 25 people in a multidisciplinary team, working with both research and clinical radiopharmaceutical production. Among the research activities currently conducted are solid-phase chemistry, PET radiometals development, and the production and evaluation of Auger emitting nuclides for therapy. Responsibilities and tasks The Hevesy Laboratory in Roskilde Denmark seeks a physicist or radiochemist to explore radionuclide production and isolation for medical application. The main purpose of the project will be to develop non-traditional radionuclides: particularly positron emitting nuclides and Auger electron emitters, with half-lives on the order of hours to days. The development goal will be to produce previously underexplored radionuclides with an ultimate purity that is sufficient for in vitro and in vivo preclinical studies involving radiolabelled mAbs, mAb fragments, peptides, and small molecules. All experimental endeavors will aim for eventual clinical translation. Qualifications A strong candidate must have a PhD in chemistry or physics and familiarity with trace-level chemical separations. As the position will require handling and chemical processing of radioactive materials, all applicants should be comfortable performing ‘hot’ chemistry in a safe and controlled manner. Candidates should also have some understanding of the interactions of radiation with matter, ranging from spectroscopic techniques to rudimentary dosimetry. Additional expertise in bioconjugate chemistry is desired.
