Postdoctoral Position in Cancer Cell Screening and Targeting

The Department of Nuclear Medicine at Odense University Hospital (OUH), Odense, Denmark, invites applications for a postdoctoral position in the field of Cancer Cell Screening and Targeting. The position is settled in the Molecular Imaging Odense (MIO) project of the OUH Frontlinjepulje Program and is vacant from January 1, 2015 or as soon as possible thereafter. The duration of the position is limited to a maximum of 12 months. The Department of Nuclear Medicine is responsible for routine diagnostics via PET-imaging and built up a competitive program in the area of research into novel molecular imaging modalities and combined imaging and therapeutic modalities. Within the MIO project, the Department of Nuclear Medicine, in collaboration with the Lundbeckfonden Center of Excellence NanoCAN, aims at developing smart biological imaging/therapeutic nano-devices for cancer. The participating groups hold cutting-edge infrastructure for PET/CT small animal imaging, automated high-throughput screening, and targeted genetic engineering of cancer cell lines. The candidate will be required to take over responsibilities for systematically screening targeting molecules, mainly aptamers and peptides, for selective delivery to cancer cells and, in more advance settings, to cancer stem cells in vitro. Requirements Qualified candidates must have a PhD degree in biomedicine, biochemistry, biotechnology, cell biology, molecular biology, or from a related field at the time of employment. Research experience in cellular screening, aptamer/peptide-based targeting, and experience in high-throughput screening and operating corresponding robotic platforms are required.
