Postdoctoral positions at the Center for Autophagy, Recycling and Disease (CARD), Danish Cancer Society Research Center (DCRC) The Danish Cancer Society is looking for postdoctorals to join the Center for Autophagy, Recycling and Disease (CARD) and become part of our team in the Danish Cancer Society Research Center (DCRC). We offer exciting jobs in an international environment with a strong record in generating new discoveries within the field of cancer biology. You will work under the supervision of Professor Marja Jäättelä (position #1), Professor Francesco Cecconi (position #2), or at the Genome Integrity Unit headed by Professor Jiri Bartek (position #3) and will participate in interesting and highly cancer-relevant projects within a newly established Center of Excellence, Center for Autophagy, Recycling and Disease (CARD), funded by the Danish National Research Foundation. #1. A position for a Postdoc is open in the Cell Death and Metabolism Unit. Work tasks • To investigate the regulation of autophagy and lysosomal function by cellular signaling networks and lipid metabolism in human cancer cells • To investigate role of autophagy in cancer treatment in order to target autophagy as a possible therapy in oncology Education required • PhD degree • Research experience in an internationally renowned Research Center Qualifications • Strong experience with molecular and cellular biology-based techniques; experience in autophagy, lysosomes, or membranes is an advantage • Knowledge of lipid metabolism, autophagy, and cell death • Fluent communication in English • High level of motivation and clear career goals • Ability to work in a team Additional information More information can be obtained directly from Professor Marja Jäättelä, email mj (at) cancer.dk. #2. A position for a Postdoc is open in the Cell Stress and Survival Unit. Work tasks • To investigate the cellular networks controlling autophagy by modulating autophagy in vivo (for instance, in models of C. elegans) • To highlight the molecular mechanisms underlying post-transcriptional control of autophagy • To unveil the role of autophagy in tumorigenesis in order to target autophagy as a possible therapy in oncology Education required • PhD degree • At least two years’ recent work experience as a Postdoc in internationally renowned Research Centers Qualifications • Strong experience with biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology-based techniques for the study of autophagy in vitro and in vivo • Expertise in work with and genetic manipulation of C. elegans • Knowledge of bioenergetics, cell metabolism, protein ubiquitylation, and autophagy • Fluent communication in English • High level of motivation and clear career goals • Ability to work in a team Additional information • More information can be obtained directly from Dr. Giuseppe Filomeni, email giufil (at) cancer.dk #3. Work tasks • To investigate the mechanisms of stress responses with emphasis on genome integrity maintenance and its cross-talk with autophagy, cellular energy metabolism and aberrations in human diseases • To elucidate role of protein synthesis, ribosome function, the ubiquitin-proteasome function, and protein and organelle turnover (recycling) in cancer pathogenesis and treatment Education required • PhD or MD degree • Research experience in an internationally renowned Research Center Qualifications • Strong experience with molecular, and cellular biology-based techniques, experience in cell cycle and genome integrity research or ribosomal biogenesis and protein translation is an advantage • Knowledge of cellular stress signaling, autophagy and checkpoint pathways • Fluent communication in English • High level of motivation and clear career goals • Ability to work in a team Additional information More information can be obtained directly from Professor J
