We are seeking a highly engaged and experienced principal scientist with a proven record of research and publications to join the Department of Haemophilia Translational Biology in Biopharmaceuticals Research Unit (BRU). About the department Haemophilia Translational Biology is a department of 18 skilled scientists and research associates that develop and explore the function of haemostatic protein drug candidates for improved haemophilia therapies. We are deeply engaged in generation of innovative project ideas, in-vitro characterisation, and assay development for novel drug candidates in haemophilia research at Novo Nordisk. The job We offer you a dynamic and challenging job in a scientific department, as well as in cross-functional project teams, where ambitious scientific goals require contributions from many highly specialised colleagues. Your focus will be to identify and evaluate early drug-candidates through elucidation of mechanism-of-action and functional in-vitro characterisation in complex biological systems like blood, plasma, and cell culture. Your main responsibilities will be the development of functional cellular model systems for analysis of coagulation reactions as well as characterisation by flow cytometry and microscopy. Clot and global haemostasis assays, and platelet aggregation are also part of the in vitro characterisation in the department. Generation of new ideas for drug targets, promotion of project proposals, scientific presentations, filing of patent applications, and contact to international networks are expected contributions. You are expected to take responsibility for the biology efforts in the project teams and coordinate activities and mature biology plans. Qualifications The optimal candidate holds a PhD in biology, the medical sciences, or a related field with strong state-of-the-art experience in the area of cellular biology. A general knowledge of haemostasis and a proven record of communicating and presenting results from complex biological systems are required. Experience with coagulation factors, enzymatic assays, and blood/plasma analyses is an advantage. Industry experience with early drug development from idea to molecule is a plus. You must have superior problem-solving skills, be a team player and entrepreneur, be willing to engage cross functionally, and enjoy progressing new ideas and methods.
