In Global Research, we are specialised in the discovery of biological medicines for the treatment of type 1 and 2 diabetes. We also discover and develop new innovative biopharmaceuticals for haemophilia and growth disorders. Furthermore, we conduct stem cell and beta cell regeneration research and other early-stage investigations aimed at finding a cure for diabetes, as well as exploring novel treatments for obesity and long-term, micro-vascular complications of diabetes. About the department The department of Insulin Receptor Biology is seeking an experienced scientist for a permanent position. The department is specialised in in vitro diabetes research with primary focus on insulin receptor binding, internalisation, signalling and the intermediate effects thereof. We work in teams consisting of a scientist and one or more technicians, in close collaboration with the rest of the department and the two other departments in the Insulin Biology Research Unit. We contribute to numerous different research projects and are responsible for delivering high quality data and scientific expertise to drive the research projects towards clinical trials. In the department of Insulin Receptor Biology, we are currently four scientists, nine technicians, a postdoctoral fellow and a Master’s student committed to the discovery of new and improved insulin analogues as well as new pharmaceutical peptides and proteins of therapeutic interest within diabetes care. We are located in modern facilities in Måløv in the Copenhagen area as part of Global Research. The job You will be part of a highly dynamic and challenging environment within GR where you, as part of multidisciplinary project groups, will provide and present in vitro experimental work in particular within in vitro pharmacology and cell biology. The ability to apply mathematical modelling to biological data is highly desirable. It is expected that you take part in suggesting and pursuing new project ideas and in the challenge on-going projects while constantly updating your knowledge within the relevant scientific areas. You will be responsible for supervising one or more technicians on a daily basis and will work closely together with the other scientists within the department as well as cross-functionally e.g. with project managers, in vivo pharmacologists, protein chemists and biophysicists. In addition, the job requires excellent communication and collaboration skills and you will be encouraged to maintain your previous scientific network and to establish new contacts with external collaborators. Qualifications You hold a PhD or similar degree and have at least five years’ experience in biological sciences with focus on diabetes biology. Experience from international universities and/or pharmaceutical industry is required. We expect that you possess in depth knowledge of biological systems and in vitro assays and are experienced in applying advanced statistics and mathematical modelling when performing data analysis or constructing scientific hypotheses. Furthermore, you are capable of setting up novel assays and implementing state of the art technologies. Familiarity with automation of liquid handling is also an advantage.
