The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability (DTU Biosustain) is looking for a Product Manager, Laboratory Information Management.

About the Center for Biosustainability

The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability (CfB) is developing new technologies for engineering microbes, turning them into cell factories, which are designed for efficient production of a specific compound in a commercially competitive way. Today, many pharmaceuticals and chemicals are produced from oil or rare plant material. By using genome-scale modelling, advanced robotics and bioengineering, the Center's researchers design and construct cell factories capable of converting low-value carbon sources to high-value chemical compounds and therapeutics in a more sustainable, cost-effective manner than today. In short: by using cell factories, we can go from an oil-based chemical industry to a highly sustainable bio-based industry.

The Center is part of a cluster of research centers that aim at attracting the world's best researchers, and thereby creating the basis for an internationally oriented and innovative research environment of the highest quality to benefit society. The Center collaborates with the world's leading researchers within the field and has established strategic alliances with universities in the United States (UCSD), Sweden (Chalmers and KTH), South Korea (KAIST) and Denmark (University of Copenhagen). Innovation is a high priority at the Center. Therefore, it collaborates with biotechnology companies and the chemical industry to enhance knowledge sharing and the application of the Center's results.

Position Summary

This role will serve as a primary point of contact between R&D and the Software Engineering & Applications Unit, bridging the gap between business stakeholders and information technology solution providers. This role will identify, assess and prioritize requirements and translate them to the technical team for the implementation of solutions. The Product Manager will ensure that the Software Engineering & Applications unit delivers quality controlled solutions that meet end users' needs, create value and support an integrated research workflow. Solutions will include a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), Enterprise Content Management and Collaboration, and the development of custom scientific software.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in the development of strategic plans for the Software Engineering & Applications unit.
• Conduct meetings and interviews with subject matter experts and facilitate cross-functional sessions to define and document business requirements and project scope.
• Translate user's business requirements into functional designs for application configuration or development. Develop user stories and wireframes where needed.
• Lead the implementation of software projects or off-the-shelf product implementations.
• Drive the adoption of computational biology solutions (off-the shelf implementations or custom developed software).
• Work with external vendors.
• Ensure deliverables meet defined acceptance criteria and quality standards and drive the adoption of solutions developed.
• Provide production support to ensure a timely resolution of issues.

Qualifications

• Experience with the development or implementation of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
• Solid experience in business process analysis and design combined with strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Expert understanding of software requirements management, solid understanding of user experience and system design.
• In-depth, hands-on experience with Agile/Scrum/Lean software development methods, including the ability to lead and execute all software requirements/backlog management activities.
• Solid experience building business relationships and trust across organizational boundaries.
• Must be a confident communicator and presenter.
• Must possess excellent organizational, planning and time management skills.
• A wide degree of creativity and latitude.
• Autonomous, results oriented and self-motivated.
• Scrum Product Owner or Project Management certification is a plus.

Education & special trainings:

• University degree (Master's or equivalent) in Life Science or Computer Science.
• 5+ years of professional work experience as Product Manager or Systems Analyst.

Salary and terms of employment

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
