DTU Compute at the Technical University of Denmark invites applications for a position as Professor in Pervasive Computing in Health Technology. DTU Compute is a department with the overall mission of contributing to research, development and education within the following scientific areas: mathematics, statistics, and computer science. The professor will be attached to the section for embedded systems engineering, one of the eleven sections comprising the Department employing approximately 400 persons including presently a faculty of 90. Responsibilities and tasks This position is offered in connection with the establishment of the new Centre for Healthcare Technology Copenhagen. This center is a collaborative effort between DTU Compute and DTU Electro, the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, the City of Copenhagen, and the Capital Region of Denmark. With this position the center wants to establish an academic leadership of the center. The position as professor is a position through which DTU wishes to reinforce and develop a specific subject area. The professor is lead this work, in partnership with other professors where appropriate. The assignments include research, teaching, innovation and consultancy services. Primary tasks are research, research-based teaching, research management, external collaboration, innovation and research based consultancy. In particular, with this position the professor should head and coordinate research activities in the new Centre for Healthcare Technology Copenhagen. This center takes a starting point in the meeting between scientists from engineering and health and clinical science. The technical foci of the center are device technology; personal assistive technology models; and statistical modeling, machine learning, and human computer interfacing. A series of collaborative research projects with participants form the partners are already defined. The professor should stimulate and coordinate new research collaboration between faculty members at DTU Compute as well as between the center partners. The successful candidate is expected to take a lead position in teaching at the bachelor-, master- and PhD levels. Qualifications Special input is expected in the area of research/innovation and research-related management. It is generally required to display input over and above the qualification requirements for the position, which are: •A high level of original scientific production at international level that has contributed to further development of the subject area in question. •Documented and successful education experience at different levels within the university’s study programmes, including and in particular at PhD level. •Documented experience in at least one of the following two fields: •Research management, including handling management assignments in national or international projects, research programmes, congresses etc. •Innovation, including the establishment of patent areas, the application of research results in commercial contexts etc. Assessment In the assessment of the candidates consideration will be given to •the ability to teach •scientific production at international level, research potential and ability to lead and develop a research team •the ability to promote and utilize research results •experience with innovation activities •an all-round experience basis, including international experience •the ability to contribute to the development of the Department’s internal and external cooperation •track record in attracting funding to the research area •visions within the research area For the specific position consideration will also be given to: •A strong background in pervasive computing •Experience with innovation and industrial collaboration •Experience with research collaboration across scientific disciplines, particularly technical science and health care •Excellent collaborative skills and leadershi
