DTU Management Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark invites applications for a position as Professor (with special responsibilities) in Large-scale Transport Modelling. The overall mission of the Management Engineering department at DTU is to develop and utilize new knowledge about Systems Analysis, Engineering Systems, Quantitative Sustainability Assessment, Management Science, Transport Modelling, and Technology and Innovation Management to benefit society. The professor will be attached to the division for Transport Modelling – one of the six divisions comprising the Department. The professor will have special responsibilities with regard to leadership and development of large-scale applied transport models and is thus expected to have a close cooperation with the Data and Model Centre at Transport DTU. Responsibilities and tasks The tasks of the professorship include research and leadership in transport modelling and development of large-scale transport modelling. This may include broad field of application areas in the transport modelling domain, including demand models, network models, and integration of large-scale model systems, applied experience with passenger transport and freight transport, as well as various modes of transport, and various scales of models from metropolitan and urban transport models, to national and international models. The professor will be related to the existing public sector support agreement with the Danish Ministry of Transport, including leading the National Model Development and/or Leading sub-projects of this, but also related to other transport modelling projects. The professor is also expected to contribute to research applications, including Danish and European research councils and innovation funds. The professor will guide and supervise younger researchers and PhD-students, and carry out some teaching and advising B.Eng., B.Sc. and M.Sc.-students, and to some extend teach at PhD levels. The professor is expected to collaborate intensively with the applied modellers of our Data and Model Centre. Further collaboration is expected with the transport economics group at the Systems Analysis section, the Human Factors group at the Technology and Innovation Management division, as well as DTU Compute (statistics, dynamic systems, scientific computing, and computer science, among others). The professor is expected to transfer research results into applied large-scale transport models, and contribute to the collaboration with third parties in the transport sector, e.g. by national, regional or metropolitan public authorities, consulting firms, and transport operators. A position as Professor with Special Responsibilities is held for a limited time period of 5 years and involves all the usual duties associated with a full professorship, as well as fixed-term specific duties which will vary according to the research program. Qualifications The qualification requirements match those which apply to ordinary professorships, although it should be noted that emphasis is to be placed on the applicant having the potential to develop large-scale transport models both scientifically and in practice and having documented original scientific production at international level. Special efforts are expected in the areas of research and public sector support, as well as potential for research-related leadership. Generally speaking, the professor is expected to provide input in extension to the qualification requirements for the position, which are: •A high level of original scientific production at international level, with the potential to contribute to the further development of the transport modelling area. •Excellent methodological and mathematical skills in transport modelling •Documented experience in: •Research and project management, including handling management tasks in national or international projects, research programmes, congresses, etc. •Teaching experience at vario
