You will be in charge of the administrative parts of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) programme and contribute to the development of our MENA programme focusing on public authorities and their role in the national human rights system.
The Danish Institute for Human Rights (the Institute) is looking for an engaged and proactive Project Officer to take part in the MENA programme in the Human Rights Systems department in Copenhagen.
The MENA programme works to improve the national human rights systems of Jordan, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia and Palestine. This is done mainly through partnerships with national human rights institutions (NHRIs) but also in cooperation with ministries. The Institute has permanent presence in Tunisia and is working to expand its permanent presence in the MENA region.
The Project Officer will work closely with the Project and Programme Manager of the MENA programme. The position will contain a mixed portfolio of tasks related to budgets, administration, project management, human resources and communication. You will refer directly to the MENA Programme Manager.
AS PROJECT OFFICER YOU WILL
- Execute financial project management and reporting
- Manage projects in compliance with the Institute’s procedures for project management and administration including monitoring, budgeting and accounting including initiating financial reporting to be executed by the Institute’s project economists, reporting and communication, and drafting invoices (regarding substance and documentation)
- Support the implementation of project activities, including the planning of missions, meetings, seminars and workshops
- Support measurement of programme results (outcome harvesting)
- Draft internal and external reports
- Support project development and design, incl. drafting project budgets
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
- Relevant office- or administrative degree within the field of financial management, human resources, or business management
- Great financial administration skills
- Experience with administration of international development projects is an advantage
- Fluency in English. Arabic and French an asset
- Excellent skills in Excel – experience with SAS is an asset
- Excellent time management skills and ability to manage several tasks simultaneously
- Detail oriented, comfortable with multi-tasking and short deadlines
- Ability to be pro-active and work independently
- Excellent communication, inter-personal and cross-cultural skills
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
The position is a one-year position with the possibility of being extended.
You will be based at the Danish Institute for Human Rights’ headquarters in Copenhagen within the department for Human Rights Systems.
Salary and employment conditions in accordance with qualifications and based on the Danish Ministry of Finance’s agreement with the Union of Commercial and Clerical Employees in Denmark (HK Stat).
