Position Overview: We are seeking a hands-on Software Engineer with extensive Python development experience. This individual will assist in development of Flexera Software’s Software Vulnerability Management technologies. These applications reduce application cybersecurity risks, identifying application vulnerability risks, prioritizing them for each specific customer, addressing those software vulnerabilities, primarily through security patches. Cybercriminals routinely use vulnerabilities in software as gateways to exploit corporate networks. 60% of attacks in 2012 were performed by commercialized exploit toolkits, sold in the underground, allowing anyone to become a cybercriminal. Over 65% of the top threats in Q4 2012 used vulnerabilities to infect machines and perform malicious activities. Writing malicious code is not rocket science. In 2012, an 11 year old developed a Trojan to steal account login information from online gamers. According to IDC’s PeerScape: Practices for IT Asset Management – July, 2015, typically the documented cost of a cybersecurity breach is in the range of $2.5 million to $5 million. However, well publicized examples of breaches at Target, JPMorgan, Home Depot, Sony, and Best Buy could cost over $500 million. Responsibilities / Qualifications: •Design & implement components of our Python framework and JS applications •Work closely with other members of the engineering organization on design iterations, testability, and inter-operability •Work with support team to assist in investigation, debugging and resolution of customer issues •Integration of user-facing elements developed by front-end developers with server side logic •Integration of data storage solutions (RDBMS, key-value stores, blob stores, etc.) Required Skills and Knowledge: •BS or MS in computer science or related discipline •3+ years of development experience with proven track record of quality on time deliveries •Expertise in Python •Experience with Python web framework (including Django, Flask, etc.) •Experience with client side development languages like JS, TypeScript, with libraries like ReactJS; willing to learn RxJS, BabelJS and other libraries as codebase evolves •Proficiency with MySQL/MariaDB, Cassandra, GIT & GitHub, Celery, Redis, AWS, MVC concepts, automated testing frameworks/TDD, Open Source technologies, and web2.0 techniques •Nice to haves: NginX, Gunicorn, RabbitMQ, Docker, Vagrant, Puppet, ElasticSearch •Thorough understanding of server-side languages •Experience in Service Oriented Application development using Web Services •Proficient in Multi-Threaded software design and implementation •Understanding of accessibility and security compliance •Knowledge of user authentication and authorization between multiple systems, servers, and environments •Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application •Familiarity with event-driven programming in Python •Strong unit test and debugging skills •Understanding of Version Control tools (Git, Mercurial or SVN) •Experience in Object Relational Mapping (ORM) and Relational Databases •Experience with all phases of software development life cycle (SDLC) •Demonstrated experience with Algorithms and Data Structures •Experience working in Unix and Linux pl
