R&D Scientist with expertise in chemical and sensory analysis Novozymes, R&D Application is seeking a new scientist to help us identify the detergent enzymes for the future. Detergent Research Center is a functional area in Applied Discovery, Bagsvaerd responsible for developing enzymes for tomorrow’s detergents. This includes mechanistic understanding and characterization of enzymes and wash systems, down scaling of wash assays and general evaluation of new enzymes - all with a global perspective and in close interaction with our customers. Challenges As Research Scientist in Detergent Research Center you will work in a R&D Application Department where most projects are global and cross-functional. As part of a team with dedicated team members you will be responsible for evaluation of odor occurring from laundry by use of a variety of assays including gas chromatography and sensory panel. The position furthermore includes insight into interactions between detergent composition and enzyme, enzyme/substrate interaction, and performance testing of enzymes and detergents. The position includes customer contact and therefore you must have the ability to convert complex scientific material into relevant customer communications. Qualifications • PhD or MSc in chemical engineering, analytical chemistry, biochemistry or similar • Experience and interest in setting up and optimizing gas chromatography for evaluation of odor compounds • Possess excellent analytical skills and experience with PCA and PLS analysis • Enjoy practical work in the laboratory • Experience with assay development and assay downscaling • Strong drive and the ability to work independently • A background from the enzyme application industry, preferably within evaluation of enzyme effects and/or detergent performance is an advantage • If you are also fluent in oral and written English, enjoy being at the forefront of product development, we have a challenging job for you.
