The mission of the Cloud Developer Advocacy team is to win the hearts and minds of Developers and IT Operators to secure the future of the platform. The Cloud Developer Advocacy team is first and foremost focused on enabling a healthy ecosystem for technical communities targeting Azure. Each team maps to a set of Azure services and open source technologies relevant to that technical audience.

 

As the Cloud Developer Advocate Program Manager, you’ll be responsible for growing Microsoft’s influence and contributions to Western Europe's developer community. You’ll work with our Cloud Developer Advocates in Western Europe to identify the top professional, student and startup influencers and communities applicable to our business, build deeper and mutually respectful relationships with those influencers, grow our contributions to those communities, and stay abreast of major trends in developer communities. You’ll understand the local developer event landscape, work with Cloud Developer Advocates to identify local events of importance that we should sponsor and/or speak at, and work to ensure a diverse and inclusive experience that will make Microsoft and developers proud. You’ll need to be analytical and measure the efficacy of our efforts, constantly tweaking and improving our processes. You’re a social media rock star and understand how people influence one another today, eager to experiment with changing consumer consumption patterns, and obsess over constantly measuring and improving our community outreach on social media and via in-person events.

Responsibilities

• Identify the top friendly and non-friendly technical influencers and communities in Western Europe.
• In partnership with Cloud Developer Advocates, build mutually beneficial relationships with influencers and communities worldwide
• Work cross-organizationally with marketing, academic, startup and product teams to build local developer community strategy to various developer audiences. Create regional toolkits and documentation of outreach efforts.
• Work with our social media marketing and events team to create, promote and execute on community development efforts
• Research and report on your region’s influencer landscape; helping to discover and coordinate engagements with these top developer influencers through partnering closely with our Cloud Developer Advocacy team.
• Measure efficacy of programmatic efforts, working closely with our analytics team and within various influencer tools to build dashboards and produce reports on a regular basis

Qualifications

• At least 3+ years of working with developer-focused events and communities
• An innate understanding of and relationship with developer communities in your local ecosystem (particularly those outside the Microsoft ecosystem) and what excites them
• First-hand experience in a fast-moving startup environment where juggling multiple “top priorities” is just a fact of life
• Exceptional cross-organizational skills
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to gracefully navigate, listen, synthesize, influence, deescalate and re-route issues across the org chart
• A commitment to eliminating information asymmetry and communicating fearlessly across our management chain
• Highly motivated self-starter who relies on strong sense of self and work ethic to produce quality and quantity 
• Problem solver who constantly seeks to refine, iterate, and improve on efforts to arrive at sustainable solutions vs isolated fixes
• A passion for developers and nerd culture
• A belief that organizations and industries are best when they are diverse and inclusive, and a commitment to ensuring that everything we do reflects that belief
• Works well independently and often remotely/from home (if desired)
