Research Scientist in Bioinformatics at the Carlsberg Laboratory

The Carlsberg Laboratory is looking for a highly motivated Research Scientist within Bioinformatics to work on collaborative research projects within the Barley, Yeast and Raw Materials Research Groups with focus on identification of new desired traits and their evolutionary history. As Research Scientist you will be involved with and/or responsible for: •Carrying out and leading bioinformatics centered research approaches in barley and yeast breeding and projects within raw materials •Working within large-scale discovery projects using state-of-the art technologies, e.g. whole-genome and whole-exome sequencing, population sequencing, RNA-seq or high-throughput phenotype image analysis •Database handling and maintaining •Supervision of BSc, MSc and PhD students and post-doctoral fellows •Preparing project presentations and contributing to applications for additional external funding to further enlarge the research group in open collaboration with universities The successful candidate will join a dynamic and international research environment and contribute to research projects combining basic and applied aspects in barley and yeast and bioactive natural products. You will be part of a world leading global company that provides an experienced international team and excellent research and working facilities spanning from genomics to basic physiology. Personal Qualifications: •A PhD within Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Bioinformatics or a related field is required preferably supported by two years of post doctoral research experience within bioinformatics •Documented strong track-record of research productivity e.g. by publications in peer-reviewed journals or by patenting related to bioinformatics (such as analysis of sequence data, microarrays, SNPs, image data, proteomics data, or biological pathways) •Experience with respect to programming languages, development of algorithms, statistical methods, and scientific software •Experience in project management, ability to lead by example, and excellent oral and written communication skills, well organized, engaged, efficient and highly self-motivated, and with an ability to contribute to the creation of a positive social atmosphere at your work place •Confident to work in a team but also individually and independently and to take the full ownership of your tasks in a responsible and engaged manner •Fluent in English Working hours: Full-time, 2 years with possibility of extension Location: Carlsberg Laboratory, Valby, Copenhagen Contact: For additional information about the position, please contact Director, Professor Birger Lindberg Møller BirgerLindberg.Moller (at) carlsberglab.dk or mobile phone (+45) 20 43 34 11 Application: Please send your application and CV to the link provided below.
