Research Scientist in Design and Control of Injection Moulding Tools with Integrated Sensors

DTU Mechanical Engineering, the Section for Manufacturing Engineering searches a researcher for working in the area of advanced tool design and precision mechatronics for injection moulding. Responsibilities and tasks The position is related to research in advanced tool design in general, and to sensorized injection moulding tools in particular. The research activities will comprise mechanical design for high performance control, process technology, sensor design and tool control as well as modelling of thermal and mechanical characteristics of the tooling solutions. This includes system qualification and reliability testing of high performance machines and tools for injection moulding. The position is limited to 2 years and is related to a research project funded by Innovation Fund Denmark. In this respect the position requires collaboration with industrial partners of the project. Qualifications Candidates should have a PhD degree or equivalent. The applicant should have a strong competence in precision manufacturing, in particular in tool and machine design and control, numerical modelling of complex mechanical systems as well as metrology. Moreover, the applicant should have extensive experience in experimental approaches for process analysis as well as modelling of processing technologies. Furthermore, the candidate should have demonstrated the ability to develop and maintain academic and industrial collaboration.
