Research Scientist in Probabilistic methods in wind turbine structural analysis and design

We are looking for a research scientist for the Department of DTU Wind Energy, Section for Wind Turbines at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). Responsibilities and tasks The goal of the research is to develop new and improve existing probabilistic methods for wind turbine design which lead to reduced uncertainties and improved reliability. The main focus areas will be probabilistic models for environmental conditions, design loads and material properties, Impact of aeroservoelastic models on design, structural reliability and predictive O&M with health monitoring. It is required that the research is published as journal papers and presented at scientific conferences. Most of the work will be done in national and international funded research projects, and seeking additional external funding means will be encouraged. It is expected that up to 25% of the work time will be spent on teaching activities, including teaching on the course “Probabilistic methods in wind engineering” and co-supervision of PhD and M.Sc. students. Qualifications •Candidates should have a PhD degree or equivalent in Mechanical engineering or allied discipline •Specialization in structural reliability •Good knowledge in at least one and preferably all of these disciplines: •Statistics and probability theory •Reliability •Time series analysis •Structural dynamics •Aeroelastic modelling and design •Wind turbine design standardization •finite-element modelling •Work experience with wind energy is an advantage •Good teaching skills are an advantage •Ability to work independently towards the research goals •Fluency in communicating, reading and writing English.
