DTU Cen is looking for a research scientist in a temporary position specializing in TKD, EBSD and related advanced SEM techniques for its world class suite of scanning and transmission electron microscopes. The appointment will last until Dec 2016. DTU Cen, Center for Electron Nanoscopy was inaugurated in December 2007 and contains state of the electron microscopes in a high-specification building. The center provides access to and is responsible for operation and maintenance of the instruments. Around 20 staff members do research and provide expertise concerning a large variety of electron beams based characterization methods. Responsibililties and tasks DTU Cen requires that the successful candidate has documented expertise in TKD, EBSD (both 2D and 3D), including publications in high impact international journals, and at least one of the following areas: •Focused Ion Beam Milling (including slice and view) •Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) •High Resolution SEM Imaging •The research scientist will report to DTU Cen’s EBSD Group Leader, Andrew Burrows, and will be responsible for extending DTU Cen’s portfolio in areas of research that maximize the use of TKD and EBSD in materials characterisation. A requirement of this position therefore is that the successful candidate takes a leading role in securing research funding to achieve this aim. Additional responsibilities: •Supervision of students at Masters and PhD level •Some teaching at Bachelors, Masters and PhD level •Supervision of Technical Support Staff at DTU Cen •Foster collaborations with other DTU departments •Training of new users in both general SEM and EBSD/TKD •Perform e-beam based characterization tasks with industrial partner Qualifications •Candidates should have a PhD degree or equivalent as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding a position as Researcher or Postdoc. •Didactic/pedagogic training Additional qualifications The ability to communicate competently in oral and written English is a requirement of this post.
