- Research Scientist - Denmark - Måløv The Global Research (GR) Unit specialises in the discovery of biological medicines for the treatment of type 1 and 2 diabetes. We also discover and develop new innovative biopharmaceuticals for haemophilia and growth disorders. Furthermore, we conduct stem cell and beta cell regeneration research and other early-stage investigations aimed at finding a cure for diabetes, as well as exploring novel treatments for obesity and long-term, micro-vascular complications of diabetes. About the department The Insulin Pharmacology Department is a part of the Insulin Pharmacology Research function that consists of three departments: the Insulin Pharmacology Department, the Clamp Competency Centre and the Insulin PK Department. The Insulin Pharmacology Department is responsible for in vivo pharmacology including pharmacokinetic studies of insulin analogues and formulations in the research phase. The department consists of approximately 26 employees including student assistants and we work in small teams of 1 pharmacologist (research scientist) and 2-3 technicians. The job You will be leading a small pharmacology team with 2-3 technicians and you will report to the Director of the department. The team will primarily collaborate with pharmacologists within the function, but also with colleagues outside the function. In the Team you will be responsible for planning and designing preclinical in vivo experiments in rodents and to develop new animal models and methods within the area of type 1 and type 2 diabetes. The practical work will mainly be carried out by the technicians but you are encouraged to take part in the work in the laboratories when needed. As a Pharmacologist you will be the department’s representative in insulin research projects where you present the data your team has generated. You will be part of a highly dynamic and challenging environment within GR and your internal contacts in the daily work will be scientist colleagues, technicians and project members, as well as project managers in GR. You will be encouraged to maintain your previous network and to establish new contacts to external collaborators. Qualifications You are a veterinarian, MD, biologist, or have a similar degree within natural sciences and you have a Ph.D. or equivalent postgraduate scientific background. Experience in the pharmaceutical industry is preferable but not mandatory. You have solid hands-on experience and knowledge of experimental in vivo study design and execution, PK/PD analysis and statistics. It is advantageous if you have pharmacological research experience within the field of diabetes, insulin physiology and metabolic diseases.
