We are seeking a Scientist to join the Upstream Process Development Department at CMC Biologics A/S (CMC). CMC is a Contract Manufacturing Organization with facilities in Denmark and USA and with customers all over the world. The Department The Upstream Process Development Department is responsible for cell line development, cell culture and fermentation process development, process characterization, technology transfers and technology development. Projects range from early pre-clinical development through all phases of clinical development all the way to commercial supply. Upstream Process Development is also responsible for all cGMP cell banking activities, design of platform processes and evaluation and implementation of new upstream technologies and techniques. The work environment in our department is very informal. There is constant collaboration across the entire organization, and all employees have a professional and flexible attitude towards their work. The department consists of 17 dedicated and highly competent scientists and technicians at an approximately 50/50 ratio. The development team is in close contact with our counterparts working at our US facility in Seattle. Responsibilities and tasks As a Scientist within Cell Line Development you will be responsible for multiple cell line development projects, continuing into upstream development projects. You will participate in multi-disciplinary project teams including downstream, analytical, process transfer, QA and manufacturing scientists working in close collaboration with the clients’ scientific teams. The cell line development group is covering both mammalian and microbial cell culture projects. Depending on the future needs you will be involved in cell line development using both our proprietary CHEF1 system as well as the clients’ cell lines. The cell lines will be further evaluated and optimized in bioreactors for subsequent transfer to our manufacturing facility. The work also includes evaluation and optimization of our platform processes and technologies. Responsibilities and tasks include: • Planning, coordination and execution of activities and experiments • Verbal and written reporting to clients • Strategic technology development • Technical guidance within the team and project teams • Technical advice to business development Experience and competencies The ideal candidate holds a PhD in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or related scientific/technical background. In addition to that you have: • A minimum of 3 years relevant experience from the industry • Demonstrated strong expertise within molecular biology and cell line development • An understanding of biopharmaceutical manufacturing • Awareness of GMP requirements • A desire to take on new tasks and responsibilities • Bioreactor experience is desired but not essential • Good interpersonal and communication skills • Excellent English written and oral communication skills On a personal level we expect you to: Be a high performing team player and to be ambitious on behalf of yourself and the company.
