- Research Scientist - Denmark - Måløv The Yeast Physiology & Cultivation Team is seeking a dynamic and innovative individual to strengthen our yeast cultivation and process development activities. The position is in the Process Technology Department, within the Global Research Unit located in Måløv, north-west of Copenhagen. It is available from 1st of September and applications will be evaluated continuously. The Global Research Unit specialises in the discovery of biological medicines for the treatment of type 1 and 2 diabetes. We also discover and develop new innovative biopharmaceuticals for haemophilia and growth disorders. Furthermore, we conduct stem cell and beta cell regeneration research and other early-stage investigations aimed at finding a cure for diabetes, as well as exploring novel treatments for obesity and long-term, micro-vascular complications of diabetes. About the department The department, Process Technology, consists of 11 scientists and 19 technicians divided into two teams, Yeast Physiology & Cultivation and Protein Purification. The department is responsible for early process development for new drug substance candidates and provides proteins for preclinical testing. We do this with state of the art technologies within protein expression, cultivation and purification technologies and in close collaboration with other areas within Global Research and CMC Development. In the Yeast Physiology & Cultivation team we are focussed on physiology characterisation of new yeast production strains and early development of cultivation and initial recovery processes. The job Our work is facilitated by multidisciplinary project teams. You will provide scientific expertise within yeast physiology and cultivation to several early stage projects. You will plan, evaluate and report experimental work in the laboratory, carried out by experienced laboratory technicians and yourself both independently and in close collaboration with other team members. Furthermore, you will be responsible for early cultivation and recovery process development and transfer to CMC Supply. Qualifications You hold a PhD or similar in biotechnology, cultivation technology or cell biology and have excellent theoretical and practical skills within yeast physiology and cultivation technologies. Knowledge within state of the art cultivation systems and initial recovery is of particular interest. You should be well versed in laboratory culture techniques and have a comprehensive understanding of cultivation optimisation and how to use bioreactors or similar technologies for scaling up. Finally, since all work takes place in multidisciplinary project groups, good interactive and communicative skills are essential.
