Copenhagen Local / International Geoscience Ref.: MO-050517 The Tyra field is a part of the Maersk Oil Danish Business unit and is Denmark’s largest gas field. This complex, offshore chalk field has been on production for 30 years with over 100 wells, many of which are long horizontals. The process facilities on Tyra East and West are host to a number of satellite developments. After 30 years of production and subsidence driven by Chalk compaction, the Tyra facilities are due for renewal and/or rationalisation. A strategy to extend the Tyra life by another 30 years and further develop the satellite fields is under implementation by the Tyra Asset Team. Development of its flanks continues, in this context, with a new platform and 12 wells, the first of which will spud by the end of 2014. The fields in the Tyra Centre asset comprise oil and gas producing Danian and Maastrichtian chalk, gas producing Middle Jurassic sandstones and oil producing tight Lower Cretaceous limestones with varying applications of stimulation and completion technology. The field maturity ranges from yet undeveloped fields, including HPHT reservoirs, to fields with some 30 years production history requiring evaluation of secondary recovery and artificial lift options to maximise recovery and subsidence mitigation measures to maintain well integrity. The Lower Cretaceous formation has complex characteristics (fluid gradients, tilting free water levels, tight matrix with variable permeability enhancement) that require rigorous and consistent analysis and integration. The remaining lower Cretaceous chalk reservoirs to be developed hold considerable potential, but are a step up in complexity from the chalk reservoirs developed today, being thinner and with poorer flow properties. The work will be conducted in a multi-discipline environment with close interaction with other Maersk Oil departments. Key Responsibilities You key responsibilities will be to provide technical leadership for alignment of modelling approaches and integration of work with relevant disciplines to deliver consistent evaluations. You will also be responsible for providing regional evaluation and integration of geological, geophysical and engineering data to develop a detailed geological understanding and reservoir characterization. You will also provide geoscience input to support the key project decisions. Among more specific tasks you will have to: • Initiate and supervise reservoir studies and integration of log, core and seismic data while working in close conjunction with geophysicists, petrophysicists and engineers. This is in order to build and update static models and ensure robust dynamic reservoir models that address the reservoir complexity and uncertainty • Provide uncertainty analysis for mapping, modelling and reserves and resources calculations, using geostatistical approaches • Support planning, optimizing and coordinating field development activities • Participate in workshops and technical meetings with co-ventures • Mentor less experienced geoscience staff • Adopt safe work and environment practices in accordance with Maersk Oil’s safety policies and business conducts Who we are looking for The ideal candidate has at least a bachelor’s degree in geology or geoscience and a strong technical foundation in development geology and has reached experience within this field on senior level preferably with some North Sea experience.
