Can you create new technological elements for future play? In LEGO® Mechanics you will head the development phases of complex technological solutions from the very first idea until the finished product is launched and used by our customers. From concept to launch - you stay in the race You will lead the development of all technological components, including pneumatics, gear and motor systems, pull back functions, all mechanical movement and other complex elements. As such, you will have an innovative and creative role ensuring optimum play experience at minimum costs and highest product quality. To do so, you: - Deliver product designs within mechanical, pneumatic and geometrical functions - Find the very best solution that hits the target group and stays within budget, time limit and characteristics - Investigate and document new technologies and materials - Perform test and ensure documentation - Secure alignment and compliance with LEGO regulations - Support your colleagues and are their go-to-person in matters of complexity - Affect the culture of a brand new, small organisation of 65 colleagues During the project phases you will pair up with Element and Electronic Designers to create sound solutions. To be able to create transparency for your colleagues, you need an extremely good general view of the processes - from the first idea is generated - over prototype production - until the final product is unpacked by an excited child somewhere in the world. To succeed, you match the following criteria: - An engineering degree within product design, mechatronics, process engineering or similar - Experience with high volume manufacturing - Preferably experience with plastic parts design and supply chain - A track record of successfully managing and mentoring a team of designers will be a plus - A creative, curious and inventive mindset - Insight into children's universe, their reaction and play pattern - An open-minded and outspoken attitude - The ability to see changes as important steps towards innovation - Excellent stakeholder management skills - Achieving your own as well as the goals of the department motivates you - You enjoy leading technical development and empowering motivated teams - Knowledge of the Asian culture and business etiquette will be an advantage Join the team, and we'll succeed together Help us raise the bar for future play, as only the best is good enough for the builders of tomorrow.
