The job will be located in the Maersk Oil Copenhagen office. The candidate will be one of the responsible geologists during the planning, implementation and close-out phases of infill & near-field exploration drilling projects. Key Responsibilities A focus on Incident Free and safe operations. • Carry out well planning using geophysical data (3D/4D seismic), geomodels and any offset well data, execution and post well reporting. • Preparation of well proposals/prognoses. • Monitor relevant wells during drilling operations & reporting of operations to Management. • Cost effective drilling and formation evaluation provision. • Ensure third party specialists (wellsite geologist, pore pressure, stratigraphy, etc) are engaged for relevant wells, monitoring remotely or onsite as required. • Supervise and mentor junior employees during geological operations placement. Who we are looking for We are looking for a candidate with a degree in Geology. Good personal work efficiency, ethics, creativity, team-work and communication skills are essential qualifications. The candidate must be fluent in English both in conversation and writing to cope with our international work environment. The candidate should have active work experience in the oil industry as a professional geologist at senior level. Part of this professional career should involve hands-on experience in (horizontal) well planning and execution. Experience with development geology, well site geology and experience in Chalk reservoirs would be advantageous. You should have a thorough understanding of entire well maturation process from initial concept through planning and execution. Furthermore you have a thorough understanding of drilling practices and procedures, well control theory, current and forthcoming technology for formation evaluation and pressure measurement. You have strong interpersonal skills in order to act as liaison between drilling, petroleum engineering and G&G communities and you will play a part in developing our junior potential by acting as a mentor for them to gain the best from their operational rotation. The candidate is expected to have the following specific skills in order to perform satisfactory in this position: • General geological and geophysical knowledge. • Knowledge of standard industry software (e.g. Petrel). • An understanding of common drilling practices, petrophysics and seismic to work with other operational disciplines. • Understanding of pore pressure, fracture gradient and wellbore stability. • Understanding of mud logging, electric logging, LWD/MWD, pressure monitoring, and sampling techniques at the well site. • Ability to design and handle post-well analyses and Final well report writing along with the drilling and stimulation departments. *LI-HJ1 Last application date: 29 August 2014.
