About the department The job is located in Novo Nordisk Research & Development area in the department Chemical Development. In our department you will find 60 highly skilled and motivated colleagues with a “can-do” attitude, who constantly challenge themselves to create, improve, upscale and transfer robust chemical processes. Our main responsibility is to develop and strengthen chemical processes from production for pre-clinical and clinical studies, to the transfer to the area responsible for market production. We do so in close collaboration with multiple stakeholders including discovery teams, analysis teams, QA, RA, pilot facilities, and CMOs. The job We are looking for candidates with a keen interest in working with late stage CMC drug development activities (phase 2 and 3). You will provide scientific and professional expertise within synthetic modifications for highly prioritised R&D projects within Novo Nordisk A/S’ core areas. It will be your responsibility to plan laboratory experiments within chemical process development, transfer processes to our pilot facilities or externally to CMOs, generate relevant technical documentation, and ensure compliance. You will work proactively together with the relevant development projects and stakeholders aiming at identifying the best processes, in terms of product quality and transferability from lab-scale, pilot-scale, and to production scale, aimed for clinical testing. This knowledge you will document in development reports for use in later filings. The progress of the projects will be evaluated internally in the team but also in cross-functional project groups which you will be part of when relevant. You will give input to regulatory submissions of files to authorities and drive and/or facilitate submission and approval of patents. You will to some degree participate as the technical expert in outsourcing activities of relevant key raw materials and external API productions, in collaboration with our outsourcing department. The key scientific discipline is organic synthesis. Related disciplines such as solid phase peptide synthesis and chemical modification of recombinant peptides and proteins which you either have experience with or have the prerequisites to learn quickly. Qualifications Ideally, you completed your PhD (or equivalent) in synthetic organic chemistry at least five years ago, and have relevant experience from outside of academia. You have worked in a setting where quality management, cGMP, and pharmaceutical development has been your everyday environment. It is considered as an advantage if you have experience with CMC activities. Also, it will be valuable if you have worked with project cost reduction within chemical processes. An innovative mind-set and being able to convert theory into practical solutions is expected as are good communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to be both a team player and independently drive complicated development projects forward. The everyday language in the department is Danish, so some knowledge and understanding of this language will be a benefit to you.
