Senior Research Scientist in Two-Phase Flow, Heat and Mass Transfer

Department of Mechanical Engineering at Technical University of Denmark (DTU), Section of Thermal Energy is looking for a Senior Researcher to strengthen its research activities in the field of optimization of energy plants applications as heat pumps, refrigeration and power cycles. The research involves numerical modeling and experimental investigation of heat and mass exchangers such as evaporators and condensers with pure fluids and mixtures, air dehumidifiers and dryers. Optimization of these components has significant, innovative potential in order to reach the future increasing energy efficiency standards with low component cost and environmental impact. Responsibilities and tasks The candidate will conduct scientific research in projects together with industrial and academic partners in the fields of two-phase flow, heat and mass transfer in refrigeration systems, heat pumps and power cycles. The research should be at international level and should be published in relevant journals and conferences. In addition it is expected that the candidate enters into close collaboration with industrial and academic partners with the aim of promoting the results of the research into industrial applications. The candidate is expected to develop the research field and actively participate in development of research projects as well as being involved in the management of projects. Exploiting of possibilities for innovation is expected within the research field. The candidate will participate in the teaching of engineering students at all levels, in particular with focus on supervision of projects in fields related to the research position. Qualifications Candidates must have: •Background including PhD degree within the field of Applied Thermodynamics and Heat and Mass Transfer as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding a position as Researcher or Postdoc. •Expertise from scientific research in numerical modeling of two-phase flow, and heat and mass exchangers •Experience in research on experimental analysis of two-phase flow heat transfer and visualization •Experience in numerical modeling of thermal energy systems •Experience in industrial research and/or scientific research in collaboration with industrial partners •Experience in development and management of scientific research projects •Experience in teaching at university level •Experience in supervision of PhD, MSc and BSc students •Ability to work independently, to plan and carry out complicated tasks •Good communication skills in English, both written and spoken •Good communication skills in Danish, both written and spoken, are preferable Assessment In the assessment of the candidates consideration will be given to: •scientific production and research potential at international level •innovative skills and the ability to generate new ideas •the ability to communicate at all levels such as the provision of scientific advice to public sector authorities •experience in teaching and education •the ability to promote and utilize research results •an all-round experience basis, preferably including international experience •the ability to contribute to development of the department’s internal and external cooperation We offer DTU offers an interesting and challenging job in an international environment focusing on education, research, public-sector consultancy and innovation which contribute to enhancing the economy and improving social welfare.
