Then you may be our next Senior Research Scientist.

 

We are looking for a scientist who in addition to scientific research within diabetes would like to support cross-functional projects with pharmacological studies, take part in design and execution on strategies within the area, communicate scientific information internally and externally, participate in scientific conferences and much more.

 

About the Diabetes Pharmacology department

The Diabetes Pharmacology department is a part of the Diabetes Research area. We develop, characterise and use animal models for early evaluation of drug candidates.

The department is responsible for in vivo and in vitro pharmacology including pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic studies of diabetes drug candidates in the research phases from idea to first human dose.

 

The department consists of approximately 35 employees: 11 scientists, 19 technicians plus a number of PhD and master students. We work in small teams consisting of one scientist and 1-2 technicians.

 

You will be part of a highly dynamic and challenging environment within Global Drug Discovery (GDD) unit and your internal contacts in the daily work will be scientist colleagues, technicians and project members, as well as project managers in GDD.

 

The position

You will be leading a small pharmacology team with technicians and report to the manager of the department. The team will primarily collaborate with scientists within the department and the Diabetes Research area, but also with colleagues across the organisation. You will be responsible for planning and designing in vivoexperiments in small animals (rodents, hamsters) and for developing new animal models and methods within the area of diabetes. As a pharmacologist you will represent the department in cross functional project teams in diabetes projects where you collaborate with other scientists by presenting data generated by your team and discussing solutions and next steps for the projects. You are also encouraged to suggest new project ideas yourself.

We expect you to maintain your previous scientific network and establish new contacts to external collaborators. Furthermore you will communicate scientific information, evaluate external opportunities for collaboration, participate in scientific conferences and evaluate CROs.

 

Qualifications

You are a veterinarian, medical doctor, biomedical scientist, or have a similar degree within natural sciences and you have a Ph.D. or equivalent postgraduate scientific background. Experience in the pharmaceutical industry or from a relevant post doc is desirable. Solid hands-on experience and knowledge of experimental in vivo study design and execution, PK/PD analysis and statistics is expected. It is an advantage if you have pharmacological research experience within the field of diabetes, micro- and macro-vascular complications or metabolic diseases.

 

On the personal level, you are proactive, flexible and open to new ideas – your own and those of others and not least you are a team player.

The job requires proficiency in English and excellent communication and collaboration skills.
