Senior Researcher within Enzyme Discovery - part time

The BioProcess Engineering Center is a research Center at the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering. The BioProcess Engineering Center’s research focuses on new enzymatic conversion concepts for sustainable biorefining routes and bioproducts design. The Center seeks a senior researcher to work part time (192 hours per year) to support the Center’s enzyme discovery. Responsibilities and tasks The senior researcher will support the Center’s further development and execution of systematic DNA-, RNA-, protein-, and proteomic-based enzyme discovery in several projects running in the Center. Specific tasks will include discovery and assessment of biomass-modifying enzymes (all CAZY classes) and interpretation of their make-up and diversity in relation to enzyme function and design. The candidate will work across several different research projects within the BioProcess Engineering Center as well as in external collaborations, and is expected to also give support to PhD and Master students. Qualifications The candidate should have a PhD degree (or equivalent) as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding a position as researcher or postdoc and extensive experience with enzyme discovery and analysis. The successful candidate must in particular master the Peptide Pattern Recognition (PPR) Technology and molecular biology techniques in relation to systematic assessment of enzymes. Experience with application of PPR on different types and families of enzymes is a key requirement.
