A position as Senior Scientist in the Department of Histology & Imaging in Global Research is available immediately. In this job you will join a high performance team, working to expand our understanding of metabolic diseases and progressing new treatment options. The Global Research Unit specialises in the discovery of biopharmaceuticals for the treatment of type 1 and 2 diabetes. We also discover and develop new innovative biopharmaceuticals for haemophilia and growth disorders and explore novel treatments for obesity and – longer term – microvascular complications of diabetes. Consisting of approximately 1500 highly qualified scientists, postdocs, and technicians, the Global Research Unit conducts its world-class research from sites based in the Greater Copenhagen area, Beijing, and Seattle. About the department The department is part of the Diabetes and Obesity Pharmacology area and is committed to the development of new pharmaceutical peptides and proteins to improve quality of life and treatment for diabetic patients. Situated in Måløv, the department is organized in two teams of researchers, technicians and PhD students working with state-of-the-art histology and imaging technologies to support both early and late stage projects with detection and quantitation of drug and drug receptors as well as efficacy and safety markers. The job You will be responsible for providing histology expertise to a diverse range of projects, with a particular focus on assessing beta-cell dynamics using a combination of histological methods. We have a high focus on expanding our capabilities within automated and quantitative histology using advanced slide processing equipment and digital imaging platforms. You will participate in cross-functional project teams with colleagues representing many different scientific disciplines. Your role in these project groups will be to provide solid histological expertise and conclusive and fully validated experimental data in order to bring projects forward. You will be encouraged to initiate and coordinate external scientific collaborations. Qualifications The ideal candidate holds a PhD in Life Sciences and has a strong experimental background within both advanced histological methods and basic histopathology. Extensive experience with image analysis software and stereological principles is also required. You have a proven publication record with histology-based methods and a good international network, preferably with experience from working cross-culturally or in global teams.
