We need a dedicated scientist for an 18 months vacancy in our Diabetes Pharmacology department. You should have a solid Central Nervous System (CNS) and neurodegenerative disease understanding and experience with in vivo models and preferably also ex vivo models and biomarkers within the field of cognition and memory.
About the department
The Diabetes Pharmacology department is part of the Diabetes Research area in Måløv, Copenhagen area, Denmark. We are a dynamic team consisting of 10 academics, 17 technicians, and a number of postdocs and students. We are engaged in all stages of diabetes research from early idea generation to scientific support of development projects. Based on strong disease understanding, we deliver high quality in vitro and in vivo pharmacology data and mechanism of action studies for the diabetes portfolio, and generate target ideas for new and improved treatments of diabetes and related complications such as cognitive impairment.
The position
The responsibility of the department is to be leading in the field of diabetes and related complications, and you will be expected to hold such high standards. Your task will be to establish and run models of cognitive impairment in rodents. Moreover, you should contribute with new target idea generation that aim at improving treatment of diabetes related cognitive impairment. You will work closely together with the other scientists in the department to share knowledge and ideas, and you will be responsible for supervising one or more technicians. You will represent the department in cross-functional project teams where you will be responsible for delivering in vivo / ex vivo data and guide projects in the optimal direction.
Qualifications
You hold a degree in Biology, Human Biology, Pharmacy, Medicine or related area and have a strong disease understanding and solid experience with CNS disorders and related models, especially within cognitive dysfunction. You have a PhD with a proven publication record within the relevant field and a broad scientific network will be a benefit. Experience from the pharmaceutical industry and the drug discovery process is an advantage.
As a person you are proactive and engaged with a can do attitude. You are energetic, flexible, result-oriented, and enjoy working in teams to share knowledge and optimise progress.
