The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU Biosustain) is looking for a talented and enthusiastic senior software engineer to lead the software development team at DTU Biosustain. DTU Biosustain is an independent research unit at the DTU that conducts research on cell factory development and synthetic biology. The software development team is responsible for building the software platform supporting iLoop Core Unit in Hørsholm as well as supporting high quality software development practices in other DTU Biosustain Units. The software platform is the basis for the general work flow at DTU Biosustain aimed at rapid development of cell factories for production of biochemicals or protein drugs. We leverage robotics, modern genome-wide data, large-scale data analysis, and predictive modeling to speed up the development process. The software engineering team works in close collaboration with computational and experimental biologists at DTU Biosustain to deliver a software platform that meets the needs of the Center. Primary areas of responsibility •Perform technical leader tasks including requirements analysis, concept development, software design, and design review •Actively participate in rapid prototyping, software implementation and testing of backend and/or frontend UI components •Work collaboratively in cross-functional and international project teams with other engineers, scientists and IT personnel to gather requirements and obtain user feedback •Participate in defining and planning future IT infrastructure needs for DTU Biosustain •Provide general vision and leadership for developing modern software solutions for biological data analysis and synthetic biology design Our expectations on you •A degree in Computer Science or similar or equivalent work experience in software engineering •At least 5 years of experience in large-scale software projects and structured software development preferably in web-based data-driven projects •Experience in software specification and assessment of feature requirements is essential •Backend service and/or frontend web UI development experience is required •Some knowledge of model-driven architecture, software validation and formal methods is desirable •Languages: Python or similar for backend, Javascript or similar for frontend •Cloud computing and data visualization experience is highly desirable •Some scientific, data analysis, engineering or robotics/automation background is a plus What we offer in return We offer an interesting and challenging job in an international atmosphere with the focus on research, teaching, innovation and public sector services for the benefit of the surrounding community.
