We are looking for an experienced business and human rights professional to join our efforts to develop best practice examples on business respect for human rights.

 

As our new senior advisor and specialist you will take part in our work with companies and financial institutions on respect for human rights. You will lead several partnerships with global companies and brands and be part of agenda-setting in our direct involvement with business.

You will be part of an ambitious and dedicated human rights and business department and join the corporate engagement team as one of our senior advisors.

 

FROM PRINCIPLES TO PRACTICE AND PRACTICE TO PRINCIPLES

Affecting change and contributing to respect of human rights is your main driver. You are ambitious, result-oriented and have a proven track record of inspiring companies to improve their practices.

 

You have in-depth/expert knowledge of human rights and a strong sense of integrity. At the same time, you are solution-oriented and have the ability to engage in operational-level dilemmas and areas of improvement in a corporate context. Your role will be to develop strong examples of respect for human rights by business and, where relevant, turn learnings into publicly available outputs. Daily activities with partner-companies will likely include:  

• Impact identification and assessments at country and site level  
• Human rights training and capacity development  
• Enterprise level policy and procedure gap analysis  
• Research, analysis and methodology creation
• Addressing systemic issues and targeting root causes with companies

 

You will lead knowledge, tools and methods development, as well as agenda setting activities rooted in our experiences working directly with companies. You will help us develop new types of activities, partnerships and focus areas and contribute to shaping the future of our corporate engagement.

 

YOUR BACKGROUND

Relevant educational background e.g. in human rights law, international relations, development or social sciences. You have more than 10 years of experience including a track record in the area of business and human rights. You have worked directly with human rights in a company setting either in-house or in an advisory capacity. You have experience in agenda setting activities in relation to the role of the private sector in human rights realization and sustainable development. Experience working with sectors such as renewable energy, ICT, finance or consumer goods is a strong asset. Experience working with human rights in the context of the SDGs is an advantage.

 

​As a colleague, you are organized, constructive, and put the team first. While being experienced, you remain curious and eager to acquire new perspectives and methodologies. You are able to define and follow a strategy and prioritize your time in a rapidly evolving environment and when managing several projects at the same time. You like working internationally and have experience working in Global South countries, you have intercultural competencies, are comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels, and you develop professional networks where you go.

 

You have excellent command of English and speak an additional major language fluently (French and Spanish preferred). You are familiar with project management and know that planning, reporting, and finance administration are important elements of our work.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT  

The position is permanent and full-time based in Copenhagen with significant international travel. Starting date as soon as possible. Salary and other conditions are set in accordance with the Danish Ministry of Finance’s agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations, as applicable.
