If so, we are looking for a Senior Specialist to take the lead on future developments within our Power Conversion innovations team. You will bring your extensive knowledge in rotating machines and drive Vestas towards the future of power conversion in wind turbines. TSS - Innovation and Concepts As part of the Innovation & Concepts organization the role as Power Conversion Innovation Architect is placed centrally in the organization locating, leading, nurturing and funneling the best innovative initiatives in the area of converting slow speed/high torque rotation energy to electrical energy with or without use speed change technology and/or inverter technology. This area is essential for making wind energy cheaper and expertise in this area is an enabler for Vestas to compete with all wind players and other energy providers in the future. You will be placed together with other key technologist for specific systems to cater for holistic decision making in an agile fashion. Responsibilities: In this position you will be responsible for defining the high level strategy for maximizing energy conversion efficiency and grid interfacing in cooperation with the internal stakeholder like System leads and Line managers plus with external parties like client, universities, sub suppliers etc. You will be responsible for defining and refining metrics for filtering of ideas and inventions in the power conversions area so Vestas have a clear line of sight to the potential wind energy business impact in the early selection phases. Key is to understand what matter and have the proper contact within the power/energy conversion communities worldwide and in cooperation with other key specialists make sure that power/energy conversions innovations are found and qualified to a higher technology readiness level such the functionality our customer need on 5 year horizon reflecting is secured. How energy/power conversion area items can be used must be assessed with proper understanding of the competitive situation within the industry in a simplistic manner. You will be instrumental in supporting and challenging our 1-5 year system product road map for the energy/power conversion area, responsible for roadmaps +5 years out, and in ensuring we have holistic benchmarking across our systems. In the position you will also be responsible for that Vestas uses state of the art innovation management method and processes compared to leading industrial players Qualifications: You have a relevant Master or Ph. D degree within the area of mechatronic or electronic engineering or large Rotational Machinery. You have more than 12 years of experience, preferably from areas with connection to the wind industry combined with experience from R&D organizations or consultancies. You have been exposed to a variety of engineering disciplines and competencies. You have in-depth Systems Engineering and modelling understanding. You have proven experience in managing teams or projects in cross-functional international organizations preferably across multiple sites. Competencies: Professional skills: You have working experience with the following areas: Defining and designing energy/power conversion systems for maximum efficiency. In structured and simple way addressing economic and technically trade-offs across many relevant engineering disciplines. Guiding innovation and idea generation based on business needs and commercial foundation. Competitive benchmarking. Wind turbine industry knowledge is an advantage but not a requirement.
