A job with technical variety 

We are looking to expand our team with a Tools Engineer, who appreciates variety in technical assignments. You will be responsible for improving maturity and robustness of deployment and monitoring tools used by customers as well as internal self-service portals for provisioning virtual environments, with an increasing focus on Cloud-based solutions. 

In this position you will be part of the Shared Services department, and with your team of 10 colleagues you will ensure the delivery of our Master Data Management software, STEP, following Stibo best practice. Shared Services is part of the Global Support Team that in total consists of 120 employees, and your team will work closely with the Technical Support and Application Support departments.   

Objectives of the position 

As a Tools Engineer you have a vital role in the organization as the tools developed and implemented help customers and colleagues monitor and make the optimal use of their software and data. Based on their specifications, you and your team will assess and develop new tools to ease the use and monitoring of the software solution.  

The role entails: 

• Work closely with R&D Platform team on software deployment and configuration tools 
• Work with System Architects in Shared Services on tools required to build Network Operations Centre (NOC) hosted environments  
• Develop self-service portals for provisioning Cloud-based environments  
• Develop or integrate browser based tools for monitoring utilization and provide cost overview  
• Integrate our enterprise software with native Cloud services and features.  

Personal qualifications 

In this role you will need strong programming skills, primarily within Java but also Perl. Experience with databases like Oracle RDBMS and Cassandra NOSQL is an advantage, along with knowledge of orchestration tools, such as Ansible and Terraform. Cloud-based services are becoming a more integral part of our work, and knowledge of AWS and Azure, would be a plus. We prefer an IT-related background within Computer Science or the like, but your skills and passion for software development are key.  

As person you have a willingness to always learn more about a topic and an ability to ask critical questions regarding specifications. You find satisfaction in problem-solving and helping internal and external customers achieve their goals.
