The mission of the Market Intelligence team within the Business Application group is to enable business professionals seeking consumer insights to take actions based on what consumers say, seek, and feel about brands and products. And around those, we are building scalable products by leveraging many other Azure technologies from HDInsight Spark pipeline to Java/Spring and C#/.Net microservices hosted on Azure Kubernetes Services.

Market Intelligence is a fast-moving and growing business at Microsoft and is built using the latest cloud technologies and machine-learning models.    

The Market Intelligence team in Lyngby  is looking for talented engineers to design, build and operate large scale business-oriented services for Microsoft. This position requires strategic thinking and hands-on technical delivery. The ideal candidate is a technologist with a desire to develop and operate large scalable services, they are a creative thinker, problem solver, teacher, and learner, and they are passionate about privacy, inclusiveness, and security. As part of our team you will learn how to lead incident investigations and identify root causes in a complex, distributed environment. Reliability and availability are key to Market Intelligence’s growth and this environment offers a terrific opportunity for technical and career growth. 

 

Our technology stack is on the frontend is TypeScript, React, and Backbone, backend is Spring and Java application running in the Azure Cloud. Powering everything is Elastic Search, Redis, Azure ML, and Azure SQL. Our build and release infrastructure are built on Visual Studio Team Services, Helm, Ansible, Puppet. Application services run on Ubuntu VMs or on Azure Container Service. We monitor them with Check_MK and Prometheus. Our teams work in a DevOps model where the full team is responsible for writing, deploying, and maintaining the software in production. We also work in an agile environment with a regular release cadence where all engineers get the chance to own and deliver features. This position offers candidates the chance to dig deeply into their area of expertise but also opportunities to see and work on new skills, whether that be frontend, backend, infrastructure, or operations

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement code with a focus on robustness, scalability, and reliability 
• Own quality of the code-base using automated unit, integration, and performance tests 
• Contribute code and design expertise to both backend services, infrastructure automation, and tooling 
• Identify gaps in current technologies and processes then lead improvement efforts 
• Participate in Dev Ops strategy, including automation efforts, monitoring improvements, transition to microservices, and on-call rotation duties 
• Collaborate at depth with peers in Development, Release Engineering, & Program Management 
• Effectively collaborate across Microsoft with other teams, customer support, and end users 

Qualifications

 

• B.S. or M.S. degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience 
• 2-5 years of experience developing software services 
• Solid software programming and design skills 
• Good understanding of how to build software in a modern web architecture 
• Solid working knowledge of data structures, OO software, and design patterns
