Value engineering from a Sourcing point of view The job GN Resound is building up a new team with the aim to optimize the value of our new products by increasing the focus on cost versus value during our New Product Development (NPD). As Sourcing Project Manager you will be responsible for taking Design for Value into our products from early concept phase to mass production. Furthermore you will: •Support organization with value/cost analysis on our products, e.g. via should cost modelling •Manage cost targets and running estimate for ramp up in development projects based on your knowledge, benchmarks and experience of what the various components should cost •Investigate and motivate for cost effective design and manufacturability on key components, e.g. via mapping of cost opportunities/risks related to product and design options •Follow up and guard the cost in NPD by working with R&D on their suggested, specification, manufacturing or material selection •Use your extensive experience in cost management and sourcing to work with the responsible Category Managers in Corporate Purchasing to ensure the best possible agreements are made for any new components •Build solid business cases for any new products being launched together with R&D & Product Marketing The Sourcing Project Manager is also expected to bring in new technologies and innovation from our suppliers to the NPD and will play a significant role in approving targets and results before certain milestones can be passed during the NPD phase. Leading or facilitating a key cross functional projects with savings impact from Sourcing point of view is also a part of the role as per need. As this is a new function, personal power and analytical skills are required. The position is with direct reference to the Manager of Design for Value and will be part of the global Purchasing team. Your qualifications Besides a technical mindset and a good business understanding, the ideal candidate is characterized by: •Holding a degree in engineering •Having +4 years’ experience of sourcing and managing cost in an R&D environment •Having project management experience supplemented by good negotiation skills •Good at solving both technical and commercial issues •High general understanding of manufacturing processes and industrialization •Experience with LEAN, Six Sigma, Design for Value and Asian sourcing is a clear advantage •Be able to communicate internally as well as externally with all kinds of categories of competences and with partners at different kinds of organisational levels •Being confident in written and spoken English To succeed in the position you have an extrovert personality and good facilitation skills enabling you to network and influence people in a proactive way. You have good analytical and problem solving skills which you make use of in order to identify issues and suggest solutions.
