Would you like to be on the forefront in delivering the next generation of powertrains in the race of reducing the cost of clean, renewable energy? Are you an experienced Mechanical, Electrical Engineer or Mechatronics Engineer with deep insight into electromechanical torque conversion and their controls? Are you interested in shaping the powertrain solutions of the next decade for the market leader in wind energy? For our global Powertrain Engineering team, we are currently seeking an innovation-oriented engineer with experience in scouting and maturing emerging technologies. Technology & Service Solutions / Nacelle, Power & Handling / Powertrain / DK or DE Vestas Technology & Service Solutions (TSS) is responsible for developing, verifying and industrializing Wind Turbines and related Service Products. It is here that we lay the technological foundation for staying the global leader in wind energy by continuously reducing the Cost of Energy. The Powertrain System converts the kinetic energy from the wind turbine rotor into electrical energy. The system consists of main components such as gearbox, generator and main shaft bearings, and the supporting auxiliary systems such as lubrication, couplings, or brakes. The Powertrain department currently consists of approx. 55 highly skilled employees, primarily situated in Denmark and in Germany. Our mission is to drive the evolution of powertrain solutions which set standards in the wind turbine industry. Strong focus is on providing solutions which will reduce the cost of energy faster than the market. We are working on flexible solutions in order to provide customized offerings to our customers in order to compete in mature and emerging markets even with challenging local content demands. This also requires that this department continuously focus on operational excellence in the development and foster an innovative culture in integrating and exploiting novel technologies to improve the time to market and finally continuously contributing to extend the global leadership position of Vestas. Within this exciting and challenging environment we have an immediate opening for you - a Specialist in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering. Responsibilities For our extremely ambitious technology roadmap, you will identify innovative and emerging technologies across all disciplines of a powertrain system. You will scope the projects to qualify these and implement them into visionary powertrain systems. In this context you will be responsible for: the processes for establishing and maintaining a technology roadmap which satisfies the needs and demands of the future maintenance of the technology roadmap with a clear line of sight from identification of new technologies through maturation to implementation into next generation of wind turbines scouting emerging technologies from adjacent industrial fields and applied research programs initiation of collaborative pre-competitive development projects in an external network of suppliers, partner universities, research institutions and other partners launch of internal technology projects for maturing candidate technologies Qualifications You base your career on a solid educational engineering background with a Ph.D. or M.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering. After your education, at least five years working experience as research- or development engineer in the industry, related consulting business or a research institution provided you with a deep insight into industrial application of powertrain- and driveline technologies. In your previous positions, you have successfully applied structured roadmap- and foresight processes and related analytical tools.
