The Technical Department within the Danish Business Unit at Maersk Oil in Esbjerg is looking for a Structural Engineer for the Jacket department to work with us in an international and challenging environment in a highly motivated and highly qualified engineering team. You will be a member of the Structures, Jacket Department. The position is an onshore position at our offices in Esbjerg, Denmark. The Structures, Jacket Department provides specialist technical supports to other departments; is responsible for structural integrity and assessment of new and existing jackets structures; preparation of inspection plans, ultimately leading to lifetime extension as well as development of calculation methods and design criteria. Structural engineering activities are typically performed by external design houses; however, the work is defined, project managed and coordinated by you in-house in the Jacket Department. Key Responsibilities Your typical daily tasks will be a combination of: • Front-end and detailed design of steel structures, integrity management and evaluation of structures in operation. • Ensuring that the work provided by contractors meets specifications as well as relevant national and international codes and standards. • Ensuring that the quality of the work-scopes is of the highest standard and that all tasks and targets are achieved within the project schedule/milestones. • Assisting and participating in project decisions. • Day-to-day support to the technical division on structural issues. Who we are looking for As a successful candidate you must be a team player experienced within structural design. You must be confident in spoken and written English and have experience within some of the areas below: • Detailed design and assessment of offshore structures. • Elastic and plastic (push-over) type of analyses of space frame structures. • Finite element analyses, e.g. with the aim to determine stress concentrations and ultimate capacity of complex structural details. • Fatigue calculations. • Wave kinematics and wind action. • Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). • Offshore design codes and good practice design solutions. • Technical project management working with and managing engineering and contracting companies. Education and experience: The preferential candidate should have professional experience of 3+ years and hold a relevant Master of Science (M.Sc.) education.
