The Maersk Drilling HSSE Team is comprised of dedicated specialists working in their respective areas of expertise including, Health and Working Environment, Personal Safety, Security, Environmental and Chemical Management, Process Safety and Human Factors. We are currently seeking a part-time student colleague who is as passionate about achieving and maintaining excellence in these areas as we are. We Offer As a member of the HSSE Team you will play a significant role in supporting our subject matter experts through the administration of compliance with a variety of legislative requirements, specifically in the areas of Working Environment, Natural Environment and Chemical Management. This student role is a unique opportunity for the right individual to gain valuable experience of an operational support role within a global organization. Key Responsibilities Supporting the HSSE department • Liaise with MD’s international team of HSE advisors to map current means of identifying HSSE legal requirements and determining how these apply to MD activities. • Produce an overview of these compliance assurance activities for all MD locations. • Identify current best practices and synergies as well as any gaps or weaker areas. • Develop existing management system controls to better support the identification and interpretation of HSSE requirements. • Review evaluation of compliance checks and reporting to ensure these are comprehensive and fit for purpose. • Take a leading role in developing and maintaining HSSE communications material Supporting the Working Environment Advisor: • Clarify and map global legislative requirements and continuously update our knowledge base • Aligning standards in our safety management system with international requirements and legislation • Providing ad hoc support to our operational units in these areas Supporting the Environment and Chemicals Manager • Gap analysis against environmental standards • Develop position papers on issues such as Biodiversity and Climate Change • Develop Maersk Drilling Standards for global fleet • Various ad hoc projects to support the Env team Who we are looking for You are a student currently working towards a degree in law, corporate governance, risk management or a related discipline. You are passionate about improving standards of HSSE management through identifying and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation. You must be able to devote between 15-20 hours per week to this position without compromising your study programme. You are a motivated self-starter with drive, initiative, result-orientation and commitment to excellence. You do not require micro-management and you enjoy sparring with team members to achieve optimal results. You are confident multi-tasking within a dynamic team environment where multiple demands may be placed on you.
