We are looking for a skilled and highly dedicated Team Leader for a new team in our Protein Science Department. About the department Novo Nordisk Global Research is committed to the development of new pharmaceutical peptides and proteins to improve quality of life and treatment for patients. The Department of Protein Science is part of the Protein Engineering function area, involved in the discovery and development of human therapeutic proteins for treatment of diabetes and obesity. Our department is organized in three teams dedicated to protein expression, purification, characterization, analysis development, as well as protein stability and design. The Department is looking for a new team leader who can drive the development of our competencies within mass spectrometry-based protein characterization to meet the future demands of the R&D organization. The job The MS Characterisation team is using state of the art mass spectrometry methods for characterisation of peptides and proteins from the earliest discovery to the first human dose. You will be a part of a new management team and your responsibility is to ensure team deliverables and to manage, support and coach a team of skilled employees. Your team is involved in multidisciplinary projects and has a large number of stakeholders across the entire R&D organisation. Your scientific leadership and people management capabilities are pivotal and we expect you to drive the planning and prioritization between research projects in close collaboration with your employees and stakeholders. Your team consists of academics, technicians and students. Qualifications You hold a PhD in Protein Chemistry or in a related field. You have documented management experience from the Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology industry and know how to inspire, motivate and empower employees to deliver excellent scientific results. Continuous optimization of workflows and scientific competencies is a central part of the job description and you have a creative mind set and ability to adapt to changing needs of a fast-paced research environment. The job requires excellent communication skills, positive attitude, strong networking capabilities and a commitment to science driven and innovative approaches, which can assist IPR generation. You have a strong background in mass spectrometry analysis of proteins and peptides and an excellent understanding of modern quadrupole or time-of-flight and orbitrap mass spectrometry instrumentation, development of methodology, sample preparation, data analysis, chromatography principles as well as ability to adapt advances in mass spectrometry to the needs of the growing R&D organisation.
