We are looking for an experienced Technical Writer with passion for transforming technical data into easy understandable installation manuals. In this role you will be part of a dedicated and skilled documentation team who is responsible for creating and maintaining installation manuals and work instructions used by Technicians onsite for the installation of our onshore wind turbines. The team consists of 5 Technical Writers and a Team Lead. Two of the team members are located in Orlando, US. As Technical Writer you will have a broad interface in the organization, gathering information from design engineers, EHS, site personnel and other subject matter experts to be used for the creation and maintenance of the documentation in question. It is important that you are not afraid of heights as part of your job will be observing the installation of the onshore wind turbines to document the working process. In this regard, approximately 10% travel activity a year (approximately 1-3 weeks at a time) is to be expected. You need to be flexible as travel arrangements may change on a short notice. We expect you to be self-motivated, proactive and have a dedicated and structured approach to your tasks. Furthermore, you are comfortable with tight and changing deadlines and able to navigate in a dynamic and multicultural work environment with multiple interfaces. What are my responsibilities? Create and update manuals and related checklists in clear, concise English converting a lot of information into clear and concise documentation by writing a short text combined with illustrations Gather, systemize and structure complex information from engineers and other stakeholders Participate in site visits to document the working process of installing onshore wind turbines Initiate the review, approval and publishing processes What do I need to qualify for this job? You have a relevant educational background that provides you the right mix of linguistic skills and technical insights - preferably a technical education or hands-on experience that will enable you to understand your target group You have +2 years of experience in writing and managing technical documentation (work instructions) Experience from the wind industry and practical experience with wind turbines and related documentation standards will be considered to be an advantage Advanced user of MS Office and general flair for IT tools and systems. Experience working with Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, TeamCenter (Viewer), topic-based authoring, CMS and XML will be considered to be a strong advantage. You are skilled in and motivated by working on long-term projects involving large-scale documents You are used to work closely together with both engineers and technicians (i.e. on site in wind turbines or similar operating machinery) You have a structured, detail oriented and proactive approach to your assignments You are a confident communicator, speaking and writing English fluently, and have the ability to cooperate and create networks with colleagues across a large multinational company In case you have acquired your skills in alternative ways your application is just as well appreciated.
