We need a dedicated Vice President to lead our Incretin and Obesity Pharmacology function. About the department The function is organised within the Incretin and Obesity Research area of Novo Nordisk A/S, reporting to the Vice President of the area. The position is located in Måløv, Copenhagen, Denmark. The function is responsible of all in vivo pharmacological evaluation of peptide, protein and antibody compounds in the discovery and development phase of diabetes and obesity research projects. Novo Nordisk is a world leader in diabetes and obesity care and has a high employee commitment and satisfaction. It will be your responsibility to manage and secure such standards of two high performing departments each consisting of approximately 25 employees/department with a good mix of scientists, technicians, Post Doc and PhD. The job The specific responsibility of the function is to be the leading experts within obesity, diabetes, GLP-1 and incretin in vivo pharmacology, to have strong biological and pharmacological insight on current and new projects, and to support the discovery and development projects with in vivo data. The function is expected to run state-of-the-art in vivo studies in non-rodent and rodent animal models, and it is your responsibility to secure high quality data and solid delivery from the departments. New target generation is crucial, and you are expected to drive innovation and generation of new project ideas in the function and in the overall research area. You will be responsible for managing and developing the area through the two department managers that both have a team of highly dedicated research scientists and technicians. It is your job with the VP management team to set the strategic direction and business targets of the function, to develop people and to ensure a motivating working environment.You will be part of the management team with the VP of Incretin and Obesity Research including the VP of Incretin and Obesity Pharmacology (YOU) and the VP of Incretin and Obesity Biology, in which strategic planning, goal setting, as well as overall resource distribution and prioritization will be performed. Qualifications You hold a degree in veterinary medicine, medicine or related area. You have a PhD or equivalent postgraduate scientific background and have solid hands-on experience with in vivo pharmacology (PK and PD) in rodent as well as non-rodent animals, preferably within the area of obesity, diabetes and incretins. The preferred candidate will also have at least 7 year experience from the pharmaceutical industry, documented leadership skills and a strong scientific network. You have at least 5 years of people management experience and strong leadership qualities. You have authority but at the same time, you are a team player able to engage and motivate people. You have a strong drive, are flexible, have excellent communication and coaching skills, and are fluent in English.
