We are seeking an assistant professor to work on researching adhesome complexes in cancer. We are looking for a dynamic, flexible, hard-working and highly committed person.

The group:
The Erler group’s research is focused on understanding how cancer spreads because this is what kills the majority of cancer patients. The projects cover a wide range of solid tumour types and we utilise a variety of diverse techniques.

Your job:
The project is to investigate the role of novel adhesome component proteins in cancer metastasis.

The Assistant professor’s responsibilities will primarily consist of:

• Research, including publication/academic dissemination duties.
• Research-based teaching.
• Sharing knowledge with society.
• Participation in formal pedagogical training program for Assistant professors.

Start: Preferably 1st February 2019 or after agreement
Duration: 3 years

Qualifications:
We expect you to be a highly motivated and highly ambitious scientist with the following qualifications:

• A PhD in Life Sciences
• Documented experience in adhesome research
• Experience in cancer research
• Strong interest in the extracellular matrix
• Excellent organisational skills
• Excellent communication skills in English
• Ability to work excellently independently and as part of a team

On a weekly basis, we have our BRIC-CEHA seminars with invited speakers.

To ease the daily administrative tasks for our researchers, the well-functioning administration assists researchers with HR, order and delivery, communication, funding and much more.

Internationally, BRIC actively participates in the European alliance, EU-life, consisting of 13 excellent life science research institutions. This will further strengthen and promote BRIC research and research education programme.

Terms of salary and employment:
Salary, pension and terms of employment will be in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Academics Central organization. Currently, the monthly salary starts at 33,766 DKK/ca. 4,521 Euro. An additional 17.1 % monthly contribution to pension will be paid by the employer. Depending on qualifications, a higher salary may be negotiated.
Non-Danish and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reductions, if they hold a PhD degree and have not lived in Denmark the last 10 years.
The position is covered by the “Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff at the Universities” of June 28, 2013.

The further process:
Shortlist: After expiry of the application deadline, the superior with power to appoint selects a number of applicants for assessment on the advice of the Appointments Committee. Applicants who were not passed for assessment should not expect further with regard to their application unless the shortlist is revised.

Assessment: The selected applications will be assessed according to the Ministry Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities 2012 and the University of Copenhagen’s guidelines 2013. The Assessment Committee makes a non-prioritized assessment of the academic qualifications and experience with respect to the above-mentioned area of research, techniques, skills and other requirements listed in the advertisement.
