In the Innovation & Concepts department, new ideas are developed, matured and transformed into real-life projects and demonstrators to ensure that Vestas remains the industry leader in sustainable energy. You will be part of a dedicated and growing team of experts that fully lives the mission "Deliver best-in-class energy solutions for the benefit of Vestas' customers and the planet" - by initially integrating Photo Voltaic and Energy Storage Systems into our product offerings.  
This will require knowledge of how variable renewable energy sources, like wind and solar in combination with storage, are integrated, interconnected and managed, but in this case most importantly, how it is remunerated.

ResponsibilitiesYour overall responsibility includes a hands-on approach to modeling, simulation, data management, and visualisation of power plant systems. In addition, your responsibilities will be to:

  • Spearhead the delivery of a software solution and ICT platform to implement EMS functions in conjunction with existing SCADA and plant control systems.
  • Responsible for maintenance of the model and applications used within the EMS system to support real-time and day-ahead studies.
  • Work with customers, IPPs, and power system operators (DSO/TSO) to understand the requirements and develop requirements for the next EMS generation.
  • Ability to perform/drive applied research and academic collaborations around Energy Management Systems, and implement prototypes and demonstrators, in particular, to experimental deployment of EMS systems.
  • Work with VPP architect and other stakeholders within the organisation to define, plan and develop next generation systems and solutions.
  • Keep an eye on the advancements in the area, and undertake technology scouting

Qualifications

  • PhD/MSc in controls and automation, electrical engineering or similar
  • Demonstrated experience in design and implementation of energy management systems, automation systems, communications and SCADA systems 
  • Experience in design and operation information and communications technology (ICT) platform and data infrastructure for hybrid power plants, microgrids and other energy systems
  • Experience in industrial SCADA platforms and systems, programing languages (C++, C# or similar)
  • Experience in research collaboration projects and handling third party systems.
  • Knowledge of various renewable generators, energy storage, electric mobility and grid integration is advantageous
  • Familiar with smart grids components and systems for their applications with renewable energy, energy storage systems, electric mobility and grid integration
  • Experience in control design for electrical systems within the energy sector - wind energy, renewable energy sources - is advantageous
  • Familiar with energy markets, electricity distribution network operation, Distribution Management Systems (DMS)
