DTU Nanotech offers a 3-year PhD scholarship to develop high precision methods for thermoelectric characterization of electronic materials used in logic, memory and/or high power electronics (metals, magnetic materials and/or semiconductors).
Responsibilities and tasks
The candidate will be expected to develop new metrology methods for electrical characterization of materials used in logic, memory or high power electronics. The candidate will be part of a team to develop such methods, and will work towards improving measurement yield, speed, precision and accuracy.
Development of new metrology methods requires in-depth understanding of electromagnetic effects. Thus, the candidate will study such effects through literature studies, simulations and calculations. Experimental work will be necessary to verify new methods but for this project the experimental load will be limited and done in collaboration with experimental experts.
Qualifications
Candidates should have a master's degree in engineering or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to the master's degree in engineering.
The candidate should be motivated, hardworking, and ready to work as part of a team. The candidate must have significant experience with analytical calculations of electrostatics and electromagnetic effects. Experience with MATLAB and finite element simulations (COMSOL Multiphysics) is also preferable.

The scholarship for the PhD degree is subject to academic approval, and the candidate will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes at DTU. Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. The period of employment is 3 years.
