The Center for Magnetic Resonance at the Department of Electrical Engineering seeks a qualified candidate as RF engineer at the Center of Excellence (CoE) in Hyperpolarized Magnetic Resonance (http://www.hypermag.elektro.dtu.dk).     

The mission of the Center is to address basic scientific questions of hyperpolarization by Dynamic Nuclear Polarization (DNP) to enable new applications of Magnetic Resonance in the study of chemical reactions in real-time in vivo and in vitro. The CoE has high resolution NMR systems, several polarizers, a cell lab, chemistry lab and electronics labs. We are ~30 researchers and support staff.

The aim of this project is to examine experimentally the feasibility of achieving theoretical limit of 13C nuclei MRI signal detection.

Previous research has demonstrated, that high detection sensitivity can be achieved by implementing coil arrays, as well as reducing thermal noise using cryogenic cooling of coils and associated frontend electronics. It would then be an advantage to combine these two technologies. Proving the feasibility of this approach will facilitate the development of standardized imaging setups compatible with clinical use.

Qualifications
You have an education (preferably a PhD) in electromagnetics. You have solid experience with MR coil development. You should have demonstrated experience in 

• Circuit design and testing in cryogenic environment;
• Fabrication of high frequency electronics;
• Use of VNAs, spectrum analysers, noise figure meters and other measurement equipment in circuit testing;
• Imaging experiments using MRI scanners;
• High frequency circuit design software;
• Knowledge dissemination through publishing in international journals.

Salary and appointment terms 
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). The position is permanent and full-time. Start as soon as possible.
